The skin of your penis or penile skin is different from other skin on the body. It is elastic in nature in order to allow for the size change caused by erections. The skin of the penis is susceptible to several different disorders. These conditions can affect a man's ability to have intercourse and to impregnate his partner. The following helpful hints & tips will help you understand how to take care of your penile skin in the best ways possible:

1- Use soap: You should use soap on selected areas of the body to avoid dryness. Unless you have really oily skin, because you are a teenager or work with oils or gases, you do not need soap to get yourself clean. Pure water does the job to get you clean. However, you do need to use soap on your face, under your arms, and in the groin area, especially on and around your penis and scrotum. As you get older, the use of soap on the rest of your body can unnecessarily dry your skin. However, as your groin area remains under the cloths most of the time, it is a good practice to use mild soap on your penis skin for hygiene reasons.  It is especially important to wash thoroughly following sexual intercourse.

2- Don’t smoke: Quit smoking or, better yet, don’t even start. More and more young people are smoking and doing so to relieve stress, but it’s bad for your body and penile skin and causes wrinkles even on your penis skin. Deep-set wrinkles will appear around your penis, just at the glans penis and your skin will be dehydrated and dull, and you may even experience premature ejaculation.

3- Your skin reflects what you eat: What you apply to your skin helps give it a healthy, radiant glow, but remember what you put into your body is just as important. A balanced diet rich in vitamins and antioxidants can make a real difference in the appearance of your penile skin, giving it a bright, shiny and glowing “youthful and manly” appearance.

4- Circumcision: The single most effective way of preventing problems and disorders with penile skin is circumcision. While this simple procedure will not completely eliminate all problems it is extremely helpful in preventing many of them. The operation removes the foreskin of the penis and is ideally performed soon after the birth of a male child. Circumcision, however, can be performed at any time but recovery is slower with advancing age.

Keep checking: Your penis is generally considered as a “hidden area” which even you don’t see very often. Therefore, it is quite a possibility that you don’t immediately notice any visible signs of an underlying disorder or disease on your penis. When the penis is afflicted with a disease affecting its skin, the general result is some form of spot or spots appearing, such as ulcers, plaques, papules, lumps or the formation of scar tissue as well as inflammation and swelling in some cases.
